That's not a...

So a couple days ago I got home pretty late... and by late I mean about 10:30pm (so sad).

The 100 year old home I live in was dark except for one small light on in the living room and one in the kitchen, where I was headed to grab a glass of water before heading upstairs.

Thinking nothing of it, I grabbed 2 jellybeans from a bowl in the living room. I popped one in my mouth and dropped one on the floor. This 'droppage' happened in the dining room, the least lit room downstairs. I thought about flipping the switch to turn the light on (shaking an internal fist I wonder why I hadn't) I glanced to see if I could 'eye' where the little cherry red jelly belly rolled.  "There it is!"

I reached down to grab it and realized "THAT'S NOT A JELLYBEAN!"

Ekgh! (Should sound like an old man gagging when pronounced aloud)

I let go...stepped back and flicked the light on to see a nasty little cockroach frozen right next to my cherry red jelly belly.

It never moved, not once.

Not when I flicked the light on, not when I grabbed my shoe and the paper towels, not when I squished it's butt into the ground (no mercy gift here for critters).

It's been three days and I still can't believe I picked up a cockroach with my bare hands!

Ekgh~
