midday poem to my roommates.

The shades are drawn back, but the sun is in hiding.
Like a guest who comes over, but doesn't say a word.
Naps are happening all around me,
but the coolness of my damp hair
keeps me alert and awake.
I take a moment to soak in the morning.

The coffee has been brewing and flowing,
but it's the stories and confessions and laughter
that makes me cherish the gift of these girls in my life.

It's the kind of day that can't be prescribed or scheduled,
"Let's bond at 9am," rather at the mercy of happenstance or providence,
where we find ourselves together, finding ourselves. Together.

I hope never to live unknown someday.
Instead, at peace with myself and others around me,
surrounded by differences that sharpen my soul
and likeness that draws me out of hiding and
lets me breathe easy knowing i'm not alone.

For this is when I know I'm home.

You're a talented poet. Love this line: "...we find ourselves together, finding ourselves. Together." Good stuff.
