It's true... for the first time ever... all four Hanash's are roaming the info superhighway (do they even call it that anymore?) Or is it the world wide web... you know what i mean...
For the last three years my parent's have been using my email address for any email needs they had.
In three years, their folder in my inbox has accrued about 25 emails (in 3 years!) Oh, and I have been their personal Google concierge too. ("Hey Layla, can you look up (insert random infomercial type thing here)...")
But things are changing, I've hooked up the computer and internet service we got them for Christmas. This started about six months ago when I set my mom up with a yahoo account (which she calls 'yafoo'). She was so proud- "I have my OWN email!" even though she didn't have a computer yet.
That first week, she called me daily and asked in her adorable Japanese accent "Lay-la... did you see if i got any emails today?" "No, mom, no new emails since I checked yesterday." (Let's see with a rate of 25 per every 3 years, she probably wouldn't have to check in again for like 43 more days...)
Now that she's got her computer set up, she's not only been able to check her own email, but she's reconnected with her Japanese high school classmate who has a blog (which she calls a 'plog', though I think this one was my fault- I explained what a blog was pretty fast- next time I need to annunciate better) Her reaction, when I explained a blog was like a journal you keep online, was 'so, it's like I get to read his secret diary, ooohhh' Yeah, mom, just like that... kind of... I even taught her how to look up this blog...
*side bar: I'd like to give a shout out to my moms and pops who help shape me into the person i am today- peace in the middle east*
It's not all roses for them though...today, my dad called me to complain.
"Our internet is slow. It takes about 20 seconds when you click on the 'e' (internet explorer icon) for the internet to come up."
Oh, dad, if you only knew... I still get a twitch when I hear that creepy muti-tone sound of the dial up internet hooking up... a mixture of a phone ringing, a creepy harmonica player, and pushing all the buttons on your phone at once... it really did scare me...
Like I said, a new day...
Now I have to figure out how to deal with their new types of calls "computer troubleshooting"...
oh, dear... what have I done!

Kevin just asked me who I was reading because I was laughing out loud.
I love your plog.
"Secret Diary"...still love that-
My grandpa recently got an email address. It was pretty funny to see him learning how to use it.
